Joachim Perez works primarily with large formats that explore masculinity and the complexity of sexuality, both on a personal and collective level.Through multilayered installations that combine fabric, embroidery, carved linoleum plates and drawings, Perez constructs narratives that at times suggest themselves as metaphors for a sexual and sensual awakening. His site-specific installations aim to confront the viewer with the heaviness of materiality as well as the crude subject depicted though embroidery.
Joachim Perez graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City. His work has been featured in exhibition in Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Romania and the United States.
